Cirque du Freak (2009)
So, a few days ago, i watched a rather odd movie in Star Movies, titled Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. The movie is literally about a circus of freaks, seriously, when i watched it i'm freaked out. It's really not a movie of my taste, but i kept watching and find something that attracted me. Chris Massoglia. He plays the main character as Darren Shan. In the end, i find the story rather interesting too.
Here's the short version of the story.
Darren Shan and his best friend Steve decided to watch a circus together. Darren thought it was a bad idea, but Steve, who has always been the rebellious one finally convinced Darren to watch it. They were fascinated by the freaks the saw in the circus, but they were most attracted Larten Crepsley and his giant spider. Steve who has always liked vampire and dark stuff, read in one of his books that Crepsley is a vampire. Steve wanted to be one and didn't tell Darren about it, but Darren eventually found out about it when Steve confronted Crepsley. Darren has always liked spiders since he was small and turned out stealing Crepsley's spider.The spider accidentally bite Steve and Darren had to beg Crepsley for the antidote, Crepsley's condition was that Darren has to be a half vampire. So Darren is Crepsley's assistant, the place that Steve wanted. Steve found out about this from the evil Mr. Tiny who tries to make the war happen again between two sides of Vampires, the ones who kill, and the ones who don't. Steve is raged with jealousy and agreed to be in Mr. Tiny's side. Steve and Darren is an enemy now and Mr.Tiny is all about making the prophecy happens the way it has to, which is bad. Because in the end Steve and Darren will have to fight each other.
So, this thing about Chris Massoglia, well umm i think he's cute. His acting skills need some work though, but he has enough charisma to do that. He is a newcomer in the movie industry but i already like him. He has symmetrical face which i love very much. I wish him the best of luck.
Later on, i found out that it's adapted from Vampire Blood which is a trilogy from the Saga of Darren Shan, author: Darren Shan. And now i'm dying to get the novels. I want to know if it's different or the same with the novels. Guess what? It's been adapted into manga too, so i searched in www.mangafox.com, too bad there's no Cirque du Freak manga there for me to read.
Anyway, the one who played Steve is Josh Hutcherson. If you guys don't know him, he's been quite famous. He has done a lot of movies, and i watched most of them, like: Journey to the Center of the Earth, Zathure: A Space Adventure, RV, Little Manhattan and Bridge to Terabithia.
Speaking of that, they are making Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. I was quite shocked, because i just found out too. And now Josh is working with Dwayne Johnson and Vanessa Hudgens. Josh and Vanessa? Really? It's not yet released but i'd really like to see it. Good luck to Josh too!
